Immediate Clinic Lake City

Anna

OMG. My experience as an Deaf individual was soooo positive here! I went in on the evening of Xmas day (The most quietest day of the year. My FAVORITE!) I wasn't sure if the staff there would be grumpy that they had to work on Xmas day but it turns out they were so happy to see somebody walk in! As soon as I walked in and revealed myself as a Deaf person and asking for communication accommodations AKA: "Hello, do any of you know sign, No? That's okay. Paper and pen will be fine" (That's my famous opening line at every business I go in. The nurse that greeted me at the desk was very gestural and pointy. Gesturing the sign for "card" and mouthing very clearly if it was supposed to be an photo ID or insurance. Easy easy easy! Then she was quick to pull out a paper and pen and was willing to write back and forth. As most hearing people would prefer to try to have me write then try to speak back to me! (a BIG no no for me...) Then when I was met with the doctor... wait for this. SHE KNEW SIGN LANGUAGE. Not certified or level 3 or anything like that... But enough to put me at ease and teach her some new fun medical words she admitted she needed to learn. She could do a basic converstation such as how are you, where's the pain, you sick, where, how long, etc etc. I was basically in and out with this walk-in clinic. I WILL be going back. :) They also offered to leave me a doctor's message in few days on my "TTY" lol....(Their unsure expression while asking me that showed that they did know it's pretty outdated...) I explained that i do have a VP and they could leave me a message at my number - they were accepting about it. Thank you Immediate Care Lake City!
