Costco Pharmacy

I had a very unpleasant and upsetting experience at this location when I was trying to pick up medicine. The first person I communicated with was really nice and helpful; we were trying to find a way to make the RX work since what the version they had wasn't what the doctor told me to take as an alternative option. After some time of talking with each other and trying to figure out things, a staff named Rich walked over and jumped into our conversation.

I immediately noticed his body language wasn't friendly; he appeared to be annoyed/frustrated with me and kept on talking to me instead of writing. I had to ask him several times to please write throughout our interaction. He was not helping things at all; wrote some things that the first staff and I already spoke about. He was being very abrupt and dismissive; told me rudely to go back to the doctor (which wasn't an option I could do due to it being evening).

I was in shock with how I was being treated by this staff. After taking a few moments to think about it, I decided that this was unacceptable and that I would not allow someone to treat me like this. I returned back to the window and Rich immediately walked over to me. I informed him that I would need to cancel the RX order and that I was going somewhere else to get it because he was being rude and kept on talking to me instead of writing. I left and actually ended up getting a wonderful customer service experience at another pharmacy. The big difference was amazing.

As I was driving over to this different pharmacy, my parent called Costco Pharmacy to make sure the RX was still active. She ended up speaking with the first staff who was friendly. The poor woman thought that the note I left was for her and my parent reassured her that it was NOT for her. I do not understand how that happened because when I wrote it, Rich was there and saw it. Hopefully it was just a misunderstanding. But if he allowed her to be given the impression that it was her fault, then shame on Rich for doing that.

I've reported this incident to management and hope that something positive will come out of this such as a retraining on customer service and using different communication styles. Whether someone is Deaf or not, no one should EVER be treated like this.
