Columbia City Cinema

echo

This venue is a model business that asks there community what the needs are and then follows through the best they can. When one local deaf-blind man who lives in the area requested Open Caption movies to be shown at their establishment, they had no objections and now even host OC night every Tuesday evening where you can find at least one if not more OC movies being shown. When hearing patrons complain, this business does their part in educating hearing patrons about OC for deaf people and at times become our biggest ally! This is a great little theatre that has the passion for being accessible to deaf/hh people! I cannot thank them enough!!

Le Petit Chouette

Holy cow, I love this place. I had already heard TONS of good word-of-mouth/press about how everything at this friendly neighborhood cinema is open-captioned (OC) on Tuesdays, no questions asked or reservations necessary. But what I hadn't expected was that they'd caption their movie PREVIEWS as well. If you've ever been to an AMC, Regal, etc. then you've probably noticed that previews are often the missing link that SONY captioning glasses and other captioning tech haven't quite touched yet. Unexpectedly getting to see captioned previews at Ark Lodge Cinemas is a lot like having a restaurant owner offer a free appetizer to a delicious main dish! Hopefully this feature will become standard (at other theaters) in the future.
