I have been using Uber in Las Vegas more than 8 times with my friends during the week of DeafNation World Expo. It was simply easy to request and communicate our drivers via text messaging. We texted each other for specific location for them to pick me up since the hotel has a lot of people at the front. Uber drivers in Las Vegas are super awesome and friendly. Great service!

I cannot be grateful enough for this great app.  As a frequent rider, I really love how this makes my ride so much easier. I do suggest that the administration reminds drivers that not every Deaf person can answer phone calls. There were times my booking was cancelled because I couldn't answer the call. Perhaps a quick online training could be provided to easily share with drivers in terms of accessibility, especially picking up Deaf riders.

While here in Berkeley for Deaf Women United conference, I've been using Uber every chance I get. Super easy to grab a car and go and little to no communication needed with the driver. Very accessible to me. Easy peasy!

An awesome, Deaf-friendly company.  I was just in NYC, on the bustling city streets, in need of a cab. I selected the Uber app on my phone, inputted the address for JFK airport. I received a notification from the Uber app that a car was on its way. And in real-time, I could see it coming closer to me on the map. Suddenly a photo of the driver popped up and I could see what he looked like- a man with a great beard. I look at drivers, scanning the street until I find him- that one!  I point, hey! He stops. His face matches the picture perfectly. I get in and sit back. No fumbling with pen and paper or struggling to communicate. He already has my destination address and off we go. All I have to do is buckle up and enjoy the ride, get out my phone and glide my friends and send them video text messages to pass the time, and several glide messages later, in no time at all, to my surprise, we were there. Wow, already? We exchanged goodbyes and off he went. No need to deal with the usual post-ride hassle: handing over my credit card, writing back and forth with pen and paper, figuring out the tip, etc. None of that. I didn’t have to deal with any of that. I walked away, and my Uber app sent me a notification with the total and charged my card automatically!  And then asked me to rate the driver one to five stars. I clicked on 5 stars. Wow, champ- true-biz Deaf friendly.

Very simple and smooth. Just press the request, text, hop in, short greet and confirm with correct driver, enjoy and hop off. Loving its experience.

When I request for a driver through the Uber App, it comes to be deaf friendly being able to see the driver on the way and how many minutes estimated until arrival.
The challenging part is when the driver has difficulty finding the location to pick me up, the driver tends to call through my phone number.  I try to text them back and it sometimes is successful.  When I am unable to text the driver, the ride gets canceled and delays my time.
I would like to see an option for deaf customers to be able to text the driver or have my profile labeled to text only so communication is effective.
Overall, I enjoy using this service.  The drivers are friendly and welcoming in the car.

I love love love Uber! Their app is very deaf-friendly technology from start to finish and really takes out the hassle of calling a car! If you are a deaf person, this solves a huge problem. From placing the car request, to watching as it navigates to your pick up location, to knowing when they have arrived, to paying the bill automatically using your mobile phone.... Everything about this technology WORKS! I can't express enough how easy this is to use and how much relief this has brought me. Although my driver was very friendly, he didn't know sign language. Otherwise I would have given five stars. My only suggestion other than learning a few simple phrases in ASL, is to tone down on the fragrances within the car. I understand wanting the car to smell good, but more than once it has been uncomfortably aggressive. Thank you uber for building something that is so easily  accessible to the deaf/hh community!
