Ft. Collins Planned Parenthood has a CNM named Kathleen Parker who is a SODA and signs fluently. She also has reception skills and can most likely read your sign language.  I always dread the communication aspect when I visit a doctor so I didn't even ask because in past. in other places I have been given a remote interpreter on a screen which the nurse then proceeded to stand in front of so I couldn't see. Ive had many awkward ineffective communication situations when the office thought they were honoring ADA guidlelines. I was pleasantly surprised when the CNM Kathleen Parker who did my tests, exams and follow up offered to sign and actually could. Usually someone who offers is far from fluent and more confusing than helpful. Kathleen is fluent, patient, helpful, thoughtful and thorough.SHe made what could have been a traumatic and confusing visit smooth and clear.  Im so grateful. When you make your appointments make sure to request her and tell them you are deaf.
