I admit, joining a co-work space for entrepreneurs with all hearing people made me nervous. Would they be open to people who are differently-abled? How would I be able to communicate with them? Would they make any effort to accommodate my needs or would I carry the responsibility alone? Those questions were quickly put to ease when the owner sat me down and allowed me to express my concerns and needs. He took a direct interest in how to create an accommodative working environment. In the short time that I have been here, he has also picked up his ABC's. While I haven't been doing that much socializing with other business owners, they all seem very open and friendly. Thanks Ballard Labs for being deaf-friendly!
