Baytown

On August 29, Mayor Bardon Capetillo signed the City of Baytown’s proclamation proclaiming September Deaf Awareness Month. April Sanchez, representing the deaf community, and City of Baytown’s Anna Yowell picked up the proclamation. An article also appeared in the Baytown Sun on September 13, 2024. I would like to thank the City of Baytown for their help in spreading deaf awareness.   Baytown city officials need to understand the importance of Deaf Awareness Month

On September 1, 2022, the City Council of Baytown, Texas passed a proclamation proclaiming the month of September Deaf Awareness Month. The proclamation was signed my Mayor Brandon Capetillo.  Deaf awareness is more than being aware that deaf people are in the neighborhood it is aware of that deaf people are just like hearing people except deaf people cannot hear.   Communication should not be a problem even if you do not know American Sign Language just pick a pencil and paper and start writing. Research shows that deaf individuals are doctors, lawyers, scientists, baseball players, and many other occupations.
