Vintage Restaurant

Alicia M.

My spouse and i decided to venture out to New Market to try Vintage restaurant this evening. The location is right downtown New Market on route 144. The decor is very interesting and fits with the name of this restaurant. They hung old white shutters up as a divider between sections. The table legs were made from old sewing machines. The paper menu is stuck on a piece of wood that looks like an old wine barrel and is held in place with rubber bands. The chef sources most of the food from local area livestock and farms. We had the hush puppies which came in a large bowl with butter and syrup this was delicious. We couldn't resist the rice Krispy onion rings, the only suggestion here is too put the sauce in a small white pitcher as it was very messy.  My spouse had the shrimp and grits which had a good broth. They ran out of the chicken and waffles so I ended up trying the chicken and biscuit with a side salad. The lemon vinaigrette was very good. The biscuit was so big I couldn't eat it instead I took off the top and ate it as an opened faced sandwich. The pickles that came with my meal was given to my spouse and he stated that they were hot and the flavor was sucked out of it. I would like to see the menu with larger print as it was hard to read the description of each item. Overall it was an enjoyable meal. Our neighbors at the tables on either side of us ordered similar dishes as well. We will be sure to come back again.
