Mozzeria DC

Kath

I have eaten their pizza from a truck during the conference I attended. I can’t remember where but maybe Arizona? Oh my, the only time I have eaten from Mozzeria and can’t take it off from my mind. Being a native of New York, I give this place a thumb up! One of the co founders is a New Yorker so go figure!

From tourists to locals, you cannot go wrong with Mozzeria! This is one of the two capitals of any deaffriendly businesses, rightfully found within the capital of the United States besides the signing Starbucks! From management to the bartender, each person are fluent with sign language. This corner pizzeria has ceiling to floor windows that provides a well-lit environment during the day, not to mention plenty of interior lighting when it's dark outside. I have been at this location during events when it was bustling to its seams with maximum capacity customers - each staff member continuously provide top-notch professional service that you would expect at such a fine pizzeria. I have tried plenty of their pizzas, and, to my surprise, Fichi is my favorite!

Seriously! From the moment I walked into this establishment until I stepped out — I had no communication barriers! It was a dream! Our server, Ariel was very friendly, clear and came to check on us at the right moments (not too much, not too little). David the manager also made time to come say hello and make sure everything was good. I looked around and saw a few hearing, non-signing diners and they all seemed to make effort to communicate in a variety of ways. The food was delicious (I got the Mozz Bar and the Mushroom pizza), including the desert and wine! Since we came mid-week, the no wait time was also a bonus! I couldn’t think of one area that they could improve on. I will definitely be back next time I am in DC

Always makes me smile every time I enter this place. Every possible communication scenario plays out with ease, whether it's multiple orders or special requests - and as an ASL fluent Deaf person, it's great to have full access to this information.

This is a great atmosphere for non-signers and signers alike to order at the same time without any communication barriers.

And on top of all that? The food - it's GREAT! I go as often as I can.
