A gentleman was standing by the guy who checks ID's and he greeted us with warmest smile and friendly attitude. Real nice guy, and I couldn't tell if he was the manager or owner. Simply his presence made you feel welcome into this cool, trendy spot, and I wouldn't have guessed the hip space downstairs that friends called the Pharmacy. It may be a little dark combined with funky colored lights complete with a long set of stairs with no elevator in sight, which may be an issue for low-sighted/mobile challenged individuals. A nifty spot that provided us with space to relax before attending the Sounders game, which was great! Bartender was very nice as well.

Le Petit Chouette

This place has some of the coolest bartenders around -- not to mention the best pool tables in town. While some establishments merely "tolerate" large deaf groups, the bartenders and owner here take a keen curiosity in Deaf Culture. Some ask me how to sign this or that (occasionally dirty words, but hey, it's an icebreaker either way), and ask me to bring back my fun group of deafies again. Ambience factors: Well-lit and reasonable music volume, so HOH folks can actually lipread their way into a decent conversation.
