A Piece of Cake

Le Petit Chouette

I had a Deaf neighbor who raved about and frequented this place religiously (like, every day). In the past year, I've discovered why. It's one of the most well-lit restaurants in Chinatown/ID, for one. There's always a attentive server (all of them cheerful, energetic people) no matter how busy it gets, and you can order from a plethora of bakeries and/or lunch/dinner staples at a whim. Try their hot noodle soups -- just grab their menu sheet, use a pen to check off the six meat/veggie ingredients/noodle type/spiciness scale you want, and hand it to the server w/o struggling to lipread/fumble for a notepad/explain what you want. Long wait for food? There's two large HDTV monitors that play nature channels and one of them (on the easternmost side) is, without fail, ALWAYS subtitled. Who knows, they probably learned from my Deaf neighbor to not disable CC regardless of request:).
