The Old Spaghetti Factory

Anonymous User

My friends and I stopped by this location since the first restaurant we stopped by had a 1-hour waiting time (even if we were there at 4:30pm). We didn't have that much time to spare in addition to waiting for our food to be prepared so we decided to try out The Old Spaghetti Factory instead. We were hoping to have a decent experience, but we were really disappointed with this location for several reasons.

We decided to sit in the bar area since there were some tables available. We waited about 10 minutes near an empty table because it needed to be cleared first. The server was busy with other tables even after we asked her if we could sit at that table to accommodate everyone in our group. We thought the server would have someone (ex. a busser) come by to help clear the table, but no one came and it was getting awkward standing near our table for that long. I ended up asking the bartender if someone could come by and she actually left her station to find someone to help us. Finally got the table cleared and clean for us to sit down. Didn't get our water for 10-15 minutes after being seated and we actually ended up ordering food when our server finally came to take our drink orders.

We had a lot of issues trying to communicate with our server because she kept on speaking to us and we couldn't really understand her. My friend misunderstood her at one point when she was trying order a dish before I caught the mistake when I asked our server for clarification. Since we were going to an event after dinner instead of taking our leftovers home to be chilled, we didn't want to have a 3-course meal so two of us were wondering if it was possible to get the main dish in a smaller size or only the main dish itself without the two other things. At first it looked like we could but then when I asked her to please write down after several attempts of not understanding her, we soon realized that the charges would be the same regardless if we went without the two other courses (which didn't make sense). At that point, we were becoming exasperated with the waiting time and communication issues and just decided to go on with it even if it wasn't what we wanted. The salad that two of us got wasn't very good; it tasted like it was from a cheap salad bag poured into our plates with not very good dressing. The bread was delicious but one of my friend couldn't have it because of her gluten restriction.

The highlight of the night was when a staff came by with our food, he knew some ASL and was really nice with us during our brief interaction before he left. Our food was okay. It took a long time to get our checks to pay so we could leave and we were becoming concerned about the time that we had left before the event even if we had communicated about it with them. We also realized that the third course was never delivered--the dessert. But we didn't care by that point because of how long all of this took and we just wanted to leave so we could enjoy the rest of our evening.

Overall, it was a very frustrating experience for us. We all tried to remain patient and polite much as we could, but our deaf-challenged encounter & so-so dining experience could definitely have been better. Plus I don't know why no one else was sent to help out with the bar area because our server was overwhelmed with so many tables to attend. She must have had about 20 tables at one point. Where was the supervisor or manager who could've stepped in to help out for that busy area until things calmed down?
